The Grasstree Medical Practice is a private general practice, located next to Lismore Base Hospital in central Lismore.  It was established by Dr Victoria Yang in 2012 following a complete refurbishment of the premises.

Dr Yang came to Australia from China 25 years ago, initially to work in Medical Research.  She went on to conduct research in Genetics and Environmental Medicine before returning to Clinical Medicine, latterly as a General Practitioner.   Dr Yang relocated to Lismore in 2006, where she developed a passion for country practice, simultaneously falling in love with the many attractions of the Northern Rivers Region, none more so than the people.  As a consequence, she and her husband decided to settle in the area permanently with a view to establishing a General Practice to serve the rural communities.

Founded in 1998, Gurgun Bulahnggelah Aboriginal Health – now known as Jullums, Lismore Aboriginal Medical Service – is a growing health service for the Aboriginal community of Lismore and surrounding areas.

Our team includes five part-time General Practitioners assisted by two part-time nurses and an Aboriginal Health Worker as well as an Aboriginal Outreach Worker. Our GPs provide a vast range of capabilities including teaching, public health, women’s health and lifestyle medicine.

We also have access to visiting allied health professionals and specialists including: psychologists, a mental health social worker, dietitian, a diabetic educator, an exercise physiologist, podiatrist, as well as an Obstetrician and Paediatrician.

We manage a wide variety of conditions as well as chronic disease, mental health and alcohol/drug management. We can draw up GP Management plans, Mental Health Treatment Plans and perform Aboriginal Health Checks.
